Richard Pak, Curvalux's CEO

Curvalux, a leading manufacturer of fixed wireless access equipment, was invited to participate in roundtable discussion during ClimateWeek NYC. Climate Week is an annual event dedicated to combating the adverse effects of global warming.

The company’s CEO, Richard Pak, shared his insights on sustainability and solar-powered wireless access technologies.

Connecting the Unconnected: Curvalux’s Role in Sustainable Internet Access

Curvalux is at the forefront of revolutionizing connectivity through innovative antennas that boast ten times greater range, much higher speeds at a fraction of the cost and power consumption compared with existing technologies. I met with so many leaders during ClimateWeek NYC who are dedicated to reducing our combined global emissions. It confirmed that Curvalux could not only impact internet access and connectivity issues, but also continue to reduce the mobile industry’s carbon footprint.

A significant challenge in connecting more people to the internet, especially in developing countries, is access to electricity. The cost of electricity can be prohibitively high in many regions. The global electricity requirements of the mobile industry contribute 220 million tons of CO2 emissions annually, with projections indicating a dramatic increase as 5G networks expand. For example, in developing countries like India where electricity access is challenging, operators have to rely on diesel generators to power a majority of the cell towers, further exacerbating environmental concerns.

Curvalux’s innovative energy-efficient fixed wireless access technologies can have a meaningful impact for mobile operators and ISPs looking to provide internet connectivity in areas where electricity is scarce or prohibitively expensive. Our mission is to make affordable broadband services accessible to the nearly 3 billion people currently without internet access while significantly reducing carbon emissions primarily through our solar-efficient fixed wireless innovations.
